About the Event
Tell us about your job, and family.
I am VP of Engineering for the largest privately held shipping company on the Great Lakes. We operate a fleet of self unloading ships. My Wife Leslie and I enjoy our time in the summers spending as much time on the water boating on Lake Erie and at our cottage in Port Clinton Ohio. We Enjoy spending as much time as with our daughter Kaye and son in law Justin and two granddaughters Tilly and Minnie.
Do you have a personal goal?, What is it and why does it matter to you?
My goal is to stay active and manage my diabetes thru fitness. Running with my daughter Kaye when we see each other thru the year has always been enjoyable. Running the same ½ marathon together will be something to look forward to.
What do you have to say about your goal?
Four years ago I needed to make some life changes on diet and exercise. I started running at that time.
Is there some type of event associated with your goal and if so, when and where is it?
Martha’s Vineyard Half Marathon on Saturday, May 16th 2020.
What is the toughest part about committing to this goal?
The winter schedule for my work is tough due to our ships being in lay up status which is when we perform all the maintenance and repairs onboard It will be difficult to train for this event depending on the weather conditions.
What do you have to do to prepare for this goal?
I need to get on a training program and stick to it. I haven’t been running much longer distance runs over the past year so getting back to a routine adding mileage on my weekly runs. Previously long runs were over 9 miles so I am sure that I am capable just need to put in the work.
